It’s a sad day in Chicago. The Hull House Association, opened in 1889 by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr, closes today. The museum (where HGRM creator Joy used to work), however, remains as open as ever. Go visit - it’s great!

language evolves and I have THINGS to say concerning that
TBH, I was so distracted and upset by this song that I really couldn’t focus on the rest of the performance. I didn’t realize until I got back to my room and did some Googling that rape had any other meaning. Also, I found out that the lyricist has since become uncomfortable by his own lyrics and updated them (via this NPR interview), and he hopes that future productions will use the new words. While there are still some issues with the newer version (he leaves one reference to rape in for the “purists” - really? really?! Because preservation of your original work is more important than ending rape culture?), I’m kind of concerned that Goucher, a college that is mostly female, would use the original and now very disturbing words.
